Journeys of a Lifetime - Guided Safaris, Inc

‘Journeys of a Lifetime’ is the Guided Safaris, Inc. ethos in the care and conservation of the wilderness while working toward the fulfilment of a spiritually-significant guest experience.

Founded upon eco-luxury safari camps and wilderness adventures that support sociability and sustainability, Guided Safaris has garnered global recognition in the stewardship of Africa’s most exclusive and extraordinary ecological hotspots. It is our hope that this front-row seat aboard our safaris will stimulate questions and a sense of wonderment. We are eager for every guest to return home from this journey both with the immense satisfaction of having just witnessed the grand scale of the African experience and found themselves a part of it at least once in their lifetime, as well as with the fulfillment of having contributed to its preservation for future generations through their visit.

Guest referrals being our primary source of operations, we are fortunate to welcome guests and fellow travelers from all corners of the globe.

We very much look forward to hosting you.

Journeys of a Lifetime
HONORING 18 YEARS IN GREEN TRAVEL
Funds from the past 18 years of the GUIDED SAFARIS INC Luxury Safari Camps partnership links are supporting key conservation programs throughout Sub-Saharan Africa, including:
Youth Outreach Projects
  • Youth Outreach Projects

  • Construction and rehabilitation of schools including providing for bursaries, training and materials for education and learning development. Through these initiatives, a sanitary and safe environment has been supported with the implementation of nutritional and hygiene programs. Overall upliftment of the communities through creation of jobs with recruiting and training of teachers, along with volunteering healthcare and supply of lifesaving medicines. Environmental Stewardship Clubs have been established to encourage responsibility and mentor learning with a conservation focus as well as leadership programs to actualize skills and help broaden future horizons. In addition to in-depth learning curriculums, the schools encourage keen development in the arts, music and sports, as well as hands-on participation in wilderness experiences with children’s programs in bush survival, adaptation and fun guiding techniques. Further, some camps have supported the creation of trust funds for students at graduate & post graduate levels in the wilderness field.
Conservation of Habitat & Climate Change
  • Conservation of Habitat & Climate Change

  • Our portfolio extends over 10 million acres of protected wilderness areas in Africa. Through the stewardship of these pristine African regions, you as a guest of Guided Safaris and our Luxury Safari Camps are able to play a small but significant part in the preservation of the land for generations to come:

    1. Preservation of the land
Responsible travel to these regions supports the continued existence of the world's ‘carbon sinks’ (essential absorption points that decrease carbon dioxide in the atmosphere through natural photosynthetic processes) thereby protecting the land from deforestation and its precious wildlife from loss of habitat and resultant poaching.

    2. Sustainability in Operation
Through monitored energy-use and set targets, our eco-camps and game drives strive to ensure a low carbon-emission through the use of clean energy and alternative sources that are renewable and environmentally-friendly whenever possible.

    3. Awareness & Sharing the Responsibility Projects are in place both for the learning of camp staff, as well as guests, that increase awareness on global warming as well as suggest help on how to implement such guidelines through their personal lifestyle and occupation.
    HealthCare Initiatives
  • HealthCare Initiatives

  • In managing the care of the land, we begin with the support and care of our local communities who provide the framework and hands to carry out these personalized operations. Aside from the building of hospitals for treatments and regular check-ups, through innovative HIV/AIDS community awareness programs, all staff at our camps, and in many cases their immediate surrounding villages, too, have access to clinics that provide education, unprejudiced testing, medicine and connective counsel.
    Wildlife Research, Relocation & Reintroduction
  • Wildlife Research, Relocation & Reintroduction

  • Addressing the needs of existing wildlife populations and impact on migratory routes, initiatives in all our wilderness regions monitor, study and seek solutions to save endangered species and, where necessary, team up with partner projects to manage and balance species population dynamics with supporting eco-systems. Through these ongoing studies, conflicts of human developments upon animal movement are identified and viable projects with objectives upon co-existence outlined.
    Income diversity & Poacher Transformation
  • Income diversity & Poacher Transformation

  • In addition to working with both law-enforcement patrols and privately funded Anti-Poaching units, these projects offer hope to work closely with rural communities in areas of crucial biodiversity that, in some cases, have a great dependence on the local wildlife and therefore are ‘accidental poachers’. By increasing awareness on the fundamentals of their natural heritage, sustainable wildlife utilization and the negative repercussions on community livelihood through such illegal activity, strategies are outlined to assist in providing profitable solutions to benefit from conservation, as well as provide conservation dividends and local market networking for increase in income, betterment of life and food security. Through the creative methodology and support of projects such as COMACO (Community Markets for Conservation) alternative livelihood benefit programs are provided to transformed and compliant poachers who are rehabilitated, trained and recruited, following a signed agreement.
