What you’ll love at Odzala

Ngaga Camp’s location overlaps the home ranges of several Gorilla family groups: This makes the Gorilla safari experience at Odzala the most unique in the world: Tracking expeditions for the Western Lowland Gorilla do not cover vast distances and generally lead into very productive viewings. The usual excursion can range in length from 0.5 miles to 5 miles over undulating country. The undergrowth can be thick, however, so reasonable fitness and health is required. Time spent with a gorilla group including the tracking effort has excursions that generally last between 2 and 8 hours. We conduct our tracking for gorilla families in groups of 6 persons with a guide and tracker. With 12 guests accommodated at the camp, two sets of individual groups set out to track different families. In the extended area, there are atleast 7 groups totalling perhaps 105 gorilla individuals at Odzala.
