This pristine wilderness forms a vital passage between Botswana's legendary Okavango Delta and the tranquil waters of the Linyanti, with each corner of the camp offering awe-inspiring views of the Zibadianja Lagoon, the very source of the famed Savuti Channel. The two-bedroom private camp is the epitome of elegance, wrapped in flowing canvas and perched on reclaimed railway sleeper decks. Inside, a spacious lounge flows seamlessly into a lavish bedroom, with an open-plan bathroom featuring a striking copper claw-foot bath. Each suite opens to a vast outdoor deck, where a private plunge pool, comfortable seating, and an invigorating outdoor shower invite guests to immerse themselves in the serenity of the untouched wilderness.
Zarafa was the first to cradle our magnificent copper baths within its luxurious suites, setting the stage for an intimate Botswana safari experience that now graces every camp in our Réserve Collection. The spirit of this cherished retreat is woven into the very fabric of each sanctuary. Zanzibari doors adorn the architecture, adding an exotic charm, while the camp’s name, Zarafa—meaning "Beloved One"—echoes the enchanting story of a giraffe’s voyage from Africa to Paris, gifted to King Charles X of France, a symbol of grace and adventure.

"In 1826, when the Ottoman Viceroy of Egypt, decided to send a gift to King Charles X of France he settled on the unique idea of sending a giraffe. This young female giraffe, later named as Zarafa, was escorted by camel and then taken by sailing boat on the Blue Nile to Khartoum, then on to Alexandria and onward to France on a ship to Marseilles. Because of her extraordinary height, a hole was cut through the deck above the cargo hold through which she could poke her neck and see out. She was a sensation in every town she passed through."

Following the authentic safari style of Zarafa camp, the Zarafa Dhow Suites are a stunning private villa with two adjoining master bedroom suites. The beige canvas tents evoke 1920s explorations in East African safari style, brought to life through use of Swahili craftsmanship: Intricately carved Lamu doors and palatial open spaces that house beautiful campaign furniture from the Kenyan and Zanzibari coast. Antique rugs and beautiful artifacts complement lush colors of rouge, leather and copper upon the natural tone of the tents. Designed to be taken up by a family or group of friends on exclusive charter, the Dhow Suites can accommodate 4 - 6 persons. The Dhow Suites are hosted privately by a team of professional staff and a private chef.
Stepping through the sturdy wooden Lamu door transports guests into a lavish realm adorned in deep reds, warm browns, and accents of brass and copper, embodying richness and elegance. At the heart of The Dhow Suite lies a spacious lounge and dining area.The two-levels comprise of a main lounge bookended with the master suites. A spacious lounge with deep couches, a coffee and refreshment area with cappuccino machines and snacks made-to-order. A team of private kitchen staff can tailor your favorite dishes. The oversized deck features a pool with views of the lagoon and a campfire area. All game drives with a private Professional Guide. The entire Zarafa Dhow Suites unit measures 2260 sq feet.

We offer daily scheduled flights from all major African airports to our private airstrip. The Dhow Suites are about 10 minutes away from the airstrip and we provide complimentary road transfer to camp.
