TWO MILLION ANIMALS, OVER SIX HUNDRED MILES: COUNTLESS UNFORGETTABLE MOMENTS. As one of Africa's seven natural wonders, Serengeti National Park hosts the continent's most mesmerizing wildlife spectacle: the Great Migration. Spanning over 9,000 square miles, the Serengeti witnesses the epic journey of two million wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and other plains game in search of fresh grazing and water. Guided by the whims of unpredictable rains, this ever-moving mass migrates from the southern plains northward across the park, before returning southward again — breeding and birthing along their path. With over 300,000 new lives and numerous perilous river crossings, the plains become a constant theater of predator-prey interactions, offering a feast for lions, hyenas, and crocodiles.
While wildebeest dominate the plains, the Serengeti boasts remarkable biodiversity, including approximately 29 herbivore species such as elephants, buffaloes, and rhinos. This wealth of prey draws in 28 predator species, both large and small, setting the stage for dramatic encounters in the open savannah. Lion prides disrupt the herds, effortlessly bringing down wildebeest. Cheetahs target the swift Thomson's gazelles, and crocodiles lie in wait for the bold — the first to brave the river crossings. This is wildlife on an unparalleled scale — a phenomenon unmatched anywhere else on the planet.
