With combined access to over 100,000 acres of private wilderness in a remote part of the Masai Mara, far off from the beaten route and crowds, our guests enjoy a rare glimpse of the Great Migration along this vast eco-system. Mara Plains Camp

The camp’s suites evoke the romantic history of East African safaris with deep canvas ceilings, rough-hewn wooden floors, and accents reminiscent of a bygone era—thick Lamu wood doors, rich hues of red, and gleaming brass details. Each suite boasts luxurious en-suite facilities, including a deep copper bath, and a sprawling private verandah where guests can relax and absorb the wilderness. Modern comforts like solar power and eco-friendly designs enhance the sense of a refined yet sustainable escape.
The quiet conservancy
The private conservancy in which Mara Plains is sited is renowned for having the lowest vehicle density in the Masai Mara region while boasting the highest concentration of big cats in all of Africa. By day and night, the camp becomes a refuge for the resident wildlife, including many of the Maasai Mara’s 300 bird species. As the sun sets, larger mammals venture into the camp, with Maasai warriors escorting guests to their suites under the starry sky. The sounds of hippos snorting and leopards calling create a nocturnal symphony.

For those seeking even greater seclusion, the Jahazi Suite is an exquisite two-bedroom tented retreat, entirely under canvas and perched on raised recycled railway sleeper decking. This intimate suite offers remarkable views of the endless stream of wildlife, subtly hidden beneath the tree canopy. Central to the suite is an indoor dining area that leads to an expansive private verandah, flanked by two large bedrooms with en-suite facilities, including a flush toilet, double vanities, and both indoor and outdoor showers. A short walkway leads to a private pool, while ceiling fans and thoughtful design keep the temperature perfectly comfortable. Guests staying in the Jahazi Suite enjoy the exclusive use of a private safari vehicle and guide, ensuring a truly bespoke experience.
