Tembo Plains Camp in the private 300,000-acre Sapi Concession is one of Zimbabwe’s premier game locations neighboring Mana Pools, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Renowned for incredible herds of Elephant, large prides of Lion and exceptional birding. Luxury tents at Tembo Camp feature en suite bath and outdoor shower, private pool & outdoor deck in every suite, sundowners around campfire, all rooms with private deck. A family tent with 2 bedrooms will be available. Mana Pools is an incredibly wildlife rich region. About 350 bird species seen at Sapi Concession including Goliath herons, Pel’s Fishing Owls, Broad-tailed Paradise wydah, Egyptian and Spurwing geese, Shellys sunbird, Arnott’s chat, Cormorants, a variety of brilliant bee-eaters and kingfishers, Large Slit Faced Bat, Nyasa (Lillian’s) lovebird, Livingstone’s flycatcher, Banded snake-eagle, Fish eagle and more! In 1984, the Sapi wildlife area along with Mana Pools were formed as a spectacular protected wilderness reserve encompassing a vast area just under 900,000 acres. With remarkable riverine forests, islands, floodplains and sandbanks the Sapi region offers diverse ecological interest. With Zimbabwe’s largest concentrations of crocodile and Hippo, the Sapi concession and Mana Pools are connected with the Lower Zambezi wilderness escarpment across the Zambezi river. With healthy populations of leopard, lion, zebra, elephant, buffalo, impala, cheetah and wild dog among other endangered species, the Sapi and Mana Pools are one of Africa’s most renowned wildlife regions. There’s something about being at rest under the huge Fig trees spending the afternoon reading or watching Lillian’s lovebirds visit the spring.
